What you will be working on:

• Creating and improving credit risk models to help Empower decrease loss rates and increase approval rates

• Collaborating with product, operations, tech, and finance teams to build out solutions that drive value for Empower and end customers

• Building machine learning models with large scale data sets

• Working closely with engineering team as they implement models in production

• Optimizing models over time by adding more features and tuning parameters

• Creating monitoring systems to track quality of models in production

• Developing data standards and analytics pipelines to facilitate current and future analysis

This is an exciting opportunity to be one of the initial members of the Empower credit team and reports to the Head of Credit.

Must-have skills:

• 3+ years of relevant experience

• Industry experience building predictive models from scratch

• Industry experience in data mining, machine learning and statistical analysis

• SQL

• Python / R

• Comfortable working with a variety of cross-functional partners in tech, product, credit and business

• Strong and structured approach to problem-solving and communicating complex topics in an effective manner

Nice-to-have skills:

• Previous experience at a bank or FinTech working in data science or credit analytics
