What you will be working on:

  • Developing machine learning and pattern recognition algorithms to help identify complex traits and improving forecasting using multiple data types

  • Performing end-to-end data analyses, from hypotheses formulation and design right through to executing writing analysis plans, preparing reports and documentation

  • Strengthening Avalo’s analytics and prediction toolkit by identifying and applying emerging techniques

  • Increasing recognition of Avalo’s data science work by participating in external collaborations.

Must-have skills:

  • Experience with machine learning using Python or R. Experience can include personal or university projects, internships or work experience

  • Intellectual curiosity and attention to detail

  • Proactive approach to collaborations within a team environment

Bonus skills:

  • Computational biology or evolutionary biology background

  • Familiarity with building predictive models from datasets, reduction techniques and biological data resources

  • Familiarity with large datasets and high-performance computing

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: guidelines are $60-120K/year ($5-10K/month) for US or international candidates. £42-60K/year or (£3.5-5K/month) for UK candidates. Actual salary will be tailored for each individual. 

Working hours: full time preferred. Part time also possible  

Work location: remote or Durham, North Carolina, US

Permanent position? Yes. Looking for someone to join the team permanently, if the first 3 months of working together is successful.
