Senior Legal Officer
Move beyond straight legal advisory and build capability across governance, compliance, property transactions and SPV structuring. In this position, you'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Board and Executive, gain line-of-sight of strategy and investment decisions, and shape projects that deliver real community impact; and all while enjoying hybrid work that fits around life.
Why this role
- Own the property deal flow: Lead end-to-end legal work for acquisitions, disposals, developments and construction, from due diligence and deal structuring through to contract execution, delivery, completion and defects.
- Broaden your remit: Lift from black-letter law into governance, risk and commercial advisory, including SPV setup, funding/finance documents, company secretary functions and compliance frameworks.

What you'll do
- Lead property transactions: Draft, review and negotiate development agreements, land purchase contracts, construction contracts, consultant agreements, novations, procurement docs and government tenders.
- Guide development & construction delivery: Support planning and approvals, advise on issues of contract administration, extensions of time, variations, securities, claims and defects; be involved in dispute.
- Assist in Managing the pipeline: Establish legal checklists and templates for the deal pipeline.
- Tenancy & asset matters: Advise on leasing, occupancy and residential tenancy legal issues, compliance and dispute resolution;.
- Governance & SPVs: Act as Company Secretary to the Company and the various SPVs; Establish and register SPVs, oversee constitutions/shareholders agreements, and ensure ASIC/ACNC obligations are met; collate Board/Committee papers and oversee production of minutes of meetings.
- External counsel oversight: Define scopes, terms of engagement and budgets; brief and manage external advisers to deliver on time and on budget.
- General commercial: Provide clear, timely advice to enable compliant, informed and fast decisions across CHC and its subsidiaries.
What you'll need
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and current practising certificate.
- 3 - 6 years PQE with demonstrable property and/or construction law experience.
- Strength in negotiating multi-party transactions and driving matters to completion.
- Curiosity and readiness to grow into a broad legal position in a not-for-profit/commercial hybrid environment.
