Position Summary: Zimbra, a Synacor product, is a secure and interoperable collaboration platform designed to connect people, systems, and tools within modern enterprise environments. With a strong global partnerecosystem, Zimbra enables organizations to maintain control of their communication infrastructure while supporting evolving workplace collaboration needs.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Sales Engineer to support Zimbra's growth across the APJ region. This role will act as a trusted technical advisor to the regional sales team, channel partners, and enterprise customers, helping design and position Zimbra solutions that meet complex technical and business requirements.
The Senior Sales Engineer will lead technical engagements throughout the sales cycle, including solution design, product demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, and technical validation. This individual will collaborate closely with territory managers, channel partners, product management, and engineering teams to ensure successful adoption of Zimbra solutions across enterprise and government environments.
This role reports to the VP, APJ Sales and supports strategic opportunities across multiple markets within the APJ region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical pre-sales advisor for Zimbra solutions across the APJ region,supporting the regional sales team and channel partners in driving new business opportunities.
- Work closely with Territory Managers, partners (VARs, distributors, and service providers) to understand customer requirements and design appropriate Zimbra solution architectures.
- Lead technical discovery sessions, product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts (POC), and technical workshops with enterprise and government customers.
- Provide technical guidance during the pre-sales cycle, including solution positioning, architecture design, competitive differentiation, and response to technical RFP/RFI requirements.
- Collaborate with customers and partners to design secure, scalable, and high-availability Zimbra deployments, including integration with existing IT infrastructure.
- Support large enterprise deployments including migration planning, integration requirements, and technical validation for high-volume mailbox environments.
- Work closely with internal teams including Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Support to communicate field feedback, customer requirements, and product enhancement needs.
- Assist sales teams in technical qualification of opportunities, helping to identify risks, validate feasibility, and strengthen win probability.
- Support partner enablement activities including technical training, solution workshops, and best practice sharing to strengthen the Zimbra partner ecosystem.
- Participate in regional customer meetings, partner events, and industry conferences to evangelize Zimbra's platform capabilities.
- Contribute to the development of technical sales materials, solution documentation, and competitive positioning to support regional go-to-market initiatives.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in pre-sales, sales engineering, or technical consulting roles within enterprise software, messaging platforms, or collaboration solutions.
- Strong technical knowledge of email and collaboration platforms, messaging infrastructure, and enterprise IT environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise deployments, preferably in messaging, cloud platforms, or collaboration technologies.
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems, virtualization technologies, and enterprise infrastructure architectures.
- Experience working with channel partners, system integrators, or service providers in a partnerled sales environment.
- Ability to translate customer business requirements into technical solution designs and communicate value propositions effectively.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Experience supporting RFP/RFI processes and technical proposal development.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced regional sales environment supporting multiple markets across APJ.
- Willingness to travel within the APJ region as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with enterprise messaging and collaboration platforms such as Zimbra, Microsoft Exchange, Google Workspace, or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with email migration projects, messaging platform upgrades, or large-scale mailbox deployments.
- Familiarity with containerized environments, Kubernetes-based deployments, or modern cloudnative architectures is a plus.
- Experience supporting government, telecom, financial services, or large enterprise customers in APJ markets.
- Experience working in a partner-driven ecosystem, including collaboration with VARs, system integrators, and managed service providers.
- Knowledge of security, compliance, and data protection considerations related to enterprise messaging systems.
- Experience in technical enablement for partners, including delivering technical workshops or solution training.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural regional environment supporting multiple APJ markets.
