FireHydrant helps companies recover from IT disasters more quickly. The FireHydrant platform includes Incident Response, Status Pages, Retrospectives, and Deploy Events so you can take control of your complex system, reduce downtime, and work better together. We’re a Series A company with around 30 employees who sit across the United States and we’re growing.
About The Role
FireHydrant is looking for our second engineering manager to empower and grow a team of highly skilled engineers. Our growing engineering organization is split into three teams focused on quarterly goals. Within the department, we also have engineers who focus on their chosen practice between Frontend, Backend, Platform and SRE - which we value equally.
We are looking for another person to work alongside our Head of Engineering who can help guide part of the team and ensure they are getting the time and support they deserve. Our new Engineering Manager will focus on people management across the engineering team, helping us to achieve our quarterly goals.

- Support your team through one-on-ones, setting goals, and facilitating conversations to ensure career progression, well-being, and performance.

- Unblock your reports to allow them to do what they love, ship code!
- Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones and deliverables.
- Play an active role in our recruiting process, helping us to grow and scale
What You’ll Bring
- A strong understanding of engineering best practices and navigating technical decision making (trade offs, business impact, etc).
- At least 3 years experience leading engineering teams (plus experience as an individual contributor, ideally working with Frontend Development
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup
- Passion for working with, teaching, and learning from a diverse group of people
- Emotional intelligence and understanding that people are more important than technology
