Position Title: Estimating Strategic Partner (Roofing Takeoffs)

Working Hours: Mountain Time (MT), 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Summary

Unique Genius is hiring an Estimating Strategic Partner to support a fast-growing roofing company (roofing, soffit, fascia, and gutters), currently growing approximately 30% year over year. The company operates with 3 executives, a fractional CFO, 3 superintendents, a 3-person finance department, 4 estimators, and 8 crews across flat, metal, and shingle roofing systems.

This role will take ownership of the takeoff and estimating process — learning to read architectural plans, measuring using the company's measurement software, building preliminary reports, and eventually producing complete material lists for multiple roofing systems. The client's long-term goal is to outsource approximately 90% of the estimating process to this role with a high degree of accuracy, making this a high-trust, high-growth position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Plan Reading & Takeoffs

• Learn to read and interpret architectural plans for roofing projects.
• Measure roofing projects accurately using Stack (measurement software).

Estimate & Report Building

• Build out preliminary estimate reports based on takeoff measurements.
• Progress toward producing complete material lists for multiple roofing systems (flat, metal, shingle).

Process Ownership

• Learn and help refine systems and processes for the estimating workflow over time.
• Work toward independently owning the majority (target: ~90%) of the estimating process with high accuracy.
• Understand the financial implications of different roofing systems/material choices and help select the ideal option for each project.
• Basic math and spreadsheet skills.
• Ability to quickly learn construction terminology and roofing-specific concepts.
• Quick study, capable of learning and helping build out systems and processes independently.
• Strong communicator with excellent written and spoken English.
• Analytical and curious mindset; comfortable digging in to understand the 'why' behind a system or number.
• Self-starter who is proactive rather than waiting for direction.
• Eager, competent, and a fast learner — this is emphasized by the client as most important.
