Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support our growing roofing company. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions, and helping transition the company from cash-basis to accrual accounting.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with QuickBooks Online, understands accrual accounting principles, and can help establish efficient financial processes that support timely and accurate month-end close.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
- Manage daily bookkeeping activities within QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Record, categorize, and reconcile financial transactions accurately.
- Maintain bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Ensure all expenses are properly classified and documented.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Accrual Accounting Support
- Support the transition from cash-basis to accrual accounting.
- Prepare and maintain accrual schedules.
- Record adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Ensure revenue and expenses are recognized accurately.
Month-End Close & Reporting
- Assist with monthly financial close processes.
- Review accounts for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare reports and supporting schedules as requested.
- Help maintain timely and error-free month-end close procedures.
Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain organized bookkeeping workflows.
- Improve financial processes and documentation standards.
- Support leadership with accurate financial data and reporting.
Qualifications
- Proven bookkeeping experience, preferably within construction, roofing, or home service industries.
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Solid understanding of accrual accounting principles.
- Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close processes.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting businesses transitioning from cash to accrual accounting.
- Construction or roofing industry experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with financial process improvement and documentation.
