1. Administrative & Executive Support

  • Executive/personal assistant work:

    • Screening, organizing, and answering straightforward emails
    • Managing his calendar and potentially booking travel
    • Handling “day‑to‑day mundane tasks” so he can focus on clinical work
  • General clerical/virtual assistant tasks:

    • Anything administrative that doesn’t require in‑person presence

2. Financial & Billing Support

  • Bookkeeping / QuickBooks work:

    • Managing payables, bills, and collections
    • Supporting with insurance billing-related admin (claims, denials, down‑coding issues), even though this wasn’t the main reason for the call, it’s part of his overall strain
  • Security‑conscious financial workflows:

    • Setting up access so the SP cannot redirect or finagle payments (sensitive because of prior embezzlement)
    • Working within limited permissions in financial systems

3. Practice Operations & Systems

  • Helping with emails and contracts with insurers
  • Assisting with collections and payables
  • Supporting marketing for the practice and possibly the addiction clinic
  • Generally streamlining workflows across:

    • Ophthalmology practice
    • Riverside Addiction Specialists
    • Building/landlord responsibilities

4. Specialized Medical Software Support (Non‑clinical)

  • Learning and using Veracity (Zeiss) and related ophthalmic systems:

    • Veracity (for cataract surgery lens constant/nomogram optimization)
    • Zeiss IOLMaster and OR microscope integrations
  • Role is non‑clinical:

    • Crunching numbers, entering data, running reports
    • No medical decision‑making or clinical judgment

5. Flexibility & Breadth of Role

  • A full‑time (40 hrs/week) assistant whose time can be shifted between:

    • Practice admin
    • Financial tasks
    • Marketing
    • Email and general executive support
    • Personal tasks (if he runs out of business tasks)
  • Someone who is:

    • Able to learn niche software and workflows quickly
    • Comfortable with ongoing training and adjustment based on his preferences
