Job Summary:
As a Sod Crew Leader at United Land Services, you will be instrumental in leading and executing sod installation projects. This hands-on leadership role requires the ability to read site plans or blueprints, operate machinery, and lead a crew with efficiency and precision. You'll ensure each job is completed on time, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a crew in the commercial installation of sod across various job sites. 
  • Interpret blueprints and site plans to determine layout and installation requirements. 
  • Oversee site preparation, including grading and soil preparation to ensure proper sod rooting. 
  • Operate and maintain machinery used in sod installation such as skid steers, sod cutters, and trucks. 
  • Monitor quality control throughout installation, ensuring sod is installed properly and uniformly. 
  • Coordinate with supervisors and project managers to meet job deadlines and client expectations. 
  • Ensure all crew members follow company safety protocols and proper installation procedures. 
  • Train new crew members on equipment operation, installation techniques, and safety. 
  • Perform daily equipment checks and report maintenance needs or job site issues promptly. 
  • Maintain accurate records of job progress, materials used, and time tracking.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a landscape or sod installation crew (commercial project experience preferred).
  • Working knowledge of sod types, installation techniques, and site preparation standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction or landscaping blueprints.
  • Skilled in operating heavy machinery and landscaping equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions.
