Job Summary:
As a Sod Crew Leader at United Land Services, you will be instrumental in leading and executing sod installation projects. This hands-on leadership role requires the ability to read site plans or blueprints, operate machinery, and lead a crew with efficiency and precision. You'll ensure each job is completed on time, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a crew in the commercial installation of sod across various job sites.
- Interpret blueprints and site plans to determine layout and installation requirements.
- Oversee site preparation, including grading and soil preparation to ensure proper sod rooting.
- Operate and maintain machinery used in sod installation such as skid steers, sod cutters, and trucks.
- Monitor quality control throughout installation, ensuring sod is installed properly and uniformly.
- Coordinate with supervisors and project managers to meet job deadlines and client expectations.
- Ensure all crew members follow company safety protocols and proper installation procedures.
- Train new crew members on equipment operation, installation techniques, and safety.
- Perform daily equipment checks and report maintenance needs or job site issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of job progress, materials used, and time tracking.
Qualifications
- Experience leading a landscape or sod installation crew (commercial project experience preferred).
- Working knowledge of sod types, installation techniques, and site preparation standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction or landscaping blueprints.
- Skilled in operating heavy machinery and landscaping equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Physically fit and able to work long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions.
