Our client is a global financial institution with a strong presence in Hong Kong and across Asia. The business is investing in document automation capabilities to improve the production of structured products documentation and support broader digital transformation across the region.
The team
You will join the Asia technology team within Structured Products and Sales IT, working closely with Sales, Legal, Structuring, Equity platform, and distribution technology teams. The environment is highly collaborative and regional in scope, with regular interaction across business and technology stakeholders in Asia and globally.
The position
We are looking for a Document Automation Engineer / Global Market Sales Doc Automation Developer to take ownership of the document automation framework across Asia. The role combines business analysis, document engineering, and software development, with responsibility for delivering scalable automation solutions built around SmartDX, C#, and production-grade integration.
The role & responsibilities
- Act as the main technology partner for Sales, Legal, and Structuring teams across Asia.
- Gather, challenge, and formalize requirements for document automation projects, including termsheets, final terms, pricing supplements, and other legal documents.
- Translate business needs into clear functional specifications that can be implemented in SmartDX.
- Own the setup, configuration, and maintenance of the SmartDX document automation platform for the Asia region.
- Design and build document templates for new product types and legal formats, and manage template versioning.
- Develop and enhance the C# orchestration service that drives the document generation workflow.
- Integrate SmartDX with upstream and downstream systems in the structured products distribution platform.
- Ensure the orchestration layer is resilient, observable, and production-ready.
- Embed document automation into the wider deal capture, document generation, and client delivery workflow.
- Own release management and CI/CD for the document automation stack.
- Maintain runbooks, operational documentation, and production support processes.
- Provide first and second-line production support during Asia business hours.
- Monitor production health, triage incidents, and implement fixes and improvements.
- Explore AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, LLMs, and cloud-native services to improve quality and speed.
The requirements
- Strong knowledge of financial markets and Equity products.
- Good understanding of global market sales legal challenges.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex functional requirements into clear technical specs for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- English and Chinese are required; Japanese is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in .NET for webservice APIs and back-end software development.
- Advanced proficiency in document automation engine setup and configuration.
- Proven experience building and enhancing complex client-facing IT systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is advantageous.
- Experience in C#, SQL, NoSQL, JavaScript, Kafka, gRPC, ELK, Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and public IaaS providers is highly relevant.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline preferred.
- Extensive experience in IT development for the financial industry and legal document automation.
- Self-motivated, autonomous, meticulous, and able to work under pressure.
