Purpose of the Role:

The Forestry Supervisor (Plantation & Institutional Development) will provide technical guidance, organizational support, and capacity-building assistance to CBFM Peoples Organizations engaged in bamboo plantation development. This role ensures that community-based forestry initiatives are sustainable, participatory, and aligned with institutional development goals, while promoting bamboo as a key resource for livelihood, environmental protection, and climate resilience.

The role is responsible for supervising bamboo plantation activities while fostering strong community participation. This role ensures sustainable forestry practices, builds local capacity, and promotes bamboo as a driver of ecological restoration and socio‑economic development. The role will serve as the bridge between plantation management and the local community, ensuring that bamboo cultivation is sustainable, inclusive, and beneficial to both the environment and the people.

The purpose of this position is to combine forestry supervision with grassroots development, ensuring that the bamboo plantation thrives not only as an ecological project but also as a community‑driven livelihood initiative.

Here's how you would make an impact:

  • Mobilize local communities to participate in bamboo plantation activities.
  • Strengthen organizational capacity of CBFM Peoples Organizations through training, mentoring, and leadership development.
  • Facilitate participatory planning, decision-making, and governance processes within the organization.
  • Support organizational compliance with government policies, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Build partnerships with farmers, cooperatives, and local government units.
  • Facilitate meetings, dialogues, and workshops to strengthen community involvement.
  • Oversee daily bamboo plantation operations including planting, maintenance, and harvesting.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards and plantation management plans.
  • Monitor plantation health, growth rates, and resource use efficiency.
  • Train members on sustainable resource management, record-keeping, and financial accountability.
  • Promote knowledge-sharing and peer learning among CBFM organizations.
  • Conduct training sessions on bamboo cultivation, agroforestry, and sustainable livelihoods.
  • Mentor community members in resource management and cooperative development.
  • Prepare reports on plantation progress, community participation, and challenges.
  • Provide recommendations to management for continuous improvement.
  • Establish systems for tracking plantation progress, organizational performance, and livelihood outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in project implementation.
  • Link communities to markets, cooperatives, and value‑adding opportunities.

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or related field.
  • least 2–3 years of experience in forestry, agroforestry, or community development.
  • Strong background in community organizing and participatory approaches.
  • Licensed Forester – RA 10690
  • Knowledge of bamboo cultivation and sustainable forestry practices.
  • Familiarity with local environmental laws, forestry regulations, and cooperative development.
