About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Welding Manager to lead the welding department, overseeing production performance, welding processes, manpower, quality, cost control and continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidates

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant welding experience.
  • Relevant welding certification or qualification will be an advantage.
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering industry.
  • Proven experience as Team Lead, Manager, Welding or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, WPS and WQT.
  • Knowledge in welding process improvement and production planning.
  • Able to manage manpower, quality, cost and production performance.
  • Good knowledge of ISO, 5S and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall Welding Department and daily operations.
  • Develop and update welding procedures and documents.
  • Ensure work is carried out according to SOP and JD requirements.
  • Monitor production progress and meet customer schedules.
  • Develop welding processes for new products.
  • Create and develop WPS based on customer requirements.
  • Plan Welder WQT and welder development programmes.
  • Improve welding processes, productivity and capability.
  • Monitor product quality and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Plan manpower needs and monitor manpower utilization.
  • Monitor department costs, revenue and monthly performance.
  • Prepare monthly performance reports for management.
  • Develop production layouts based on production needs.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and 5S practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Support customer audits and technical discussions.
  • Work with Engineering and other departments on new projects.
  • Support customer-site issues when required.
  • Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools and department assets.
  • Develop and approve Work Instructions (WI) and production standards.
  • Support welding tool, jig and fixture development.
  • Monitor welding vendors and suppliers.
  • Conduct training for new and existing employees.
  • Conduct employee appraisal, confirmation and promotion reviews.
