Our current client is a company that provides flexible and innovative business solutions for workflow and personnel management. On their behalf we are looking for a Senior/Lead AP with German to join their team in Sofia. Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Operations

- Ensure accurate posting of bank statements and accounts payable transactions.

- Oversee and support travel expense verification and booking in line with company policies.

- Manage accrual postings and general ledger entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns.

- Contribute to monthly and quarterly closing and reporting processes.

- Provide support in accounts receivable activities where required.

Leadership & Team Coordination

- Guide, mentor, and support junior accounting team members within the AP function.

- Act as a point of escalation for complex accounting topics and transaction issues.

- Coordinate workload distribution and ensure high-quality and timely deliverables.

- Promote a collaborative and knowledge-sharing team culture.

Process Improvement & Digital Transformation

- Lead initiatives to optimize, standardize, and digitalize accounting processes.

- Support the implementation of a new digital data room and documentation structure.

- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, improve controls, and enhance reporting accuracy.

- Actively contribute to finance transformation projects and automation initiatives.

Requirements:

- Completed commercial or finance-related education (e.g., Kaufmännische Ausbildung or equivalent).

- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with strong exposure to accounts payable.

- Solid Knowledge of bank postings, accruals and general ledger accounting.

- Experience supporting month-end closing and financial reporting processes.

- Initial experience in coordinating or mentoring team members is highly desirable.

-Strong analytical, structured, and detail-oriented working style.

- Ability to lead by example and work effectively in an international team environment.

- Strong interest in process improvement, automation, and digital finance transformation.

- Fluent German and English (written and spoken).
