Company Introduction

This organization is a leader in precision-engineered components and supply chain solutions for aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical, and energy industries. With decades of technical expertise and a nationwide engineering and manufacturing network, it helps partners improve product reliability, reduce risk, and maintain the highest quality standards.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to serve as the on-site quality leader, ensuring product quality through thorough assessment and analysis using established procedural standards. This is a highly autonomous role with minimal on-site supervision; the Quality Engineer is the go-to quality authority on the floor, accountable for driving compliance, decisions, and continuous improvement independently. Daily collaboration with remote management occurs primarily via Microsoft Teams. The ideal candidate is self-directed, accountable, technically strong, and capable of operating with confidence in a remote-managed environment without direct reports.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site quality authority; own quality decisions, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives independently
  • Maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures; actively contribute to a zero-incident safety culture
  • Perform inspections of company products to determine conformance with specifications
  • Utilize standard mechanical and electrical instruments, functional gauges, and test rigs
  • Process associated documentation including process tags, rework tags, and nonconforming material documents
  • Record inspection and test data results and maintain them for retrieval
  • Ensure compliance with QMS, ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9120 requirements
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) processes
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Communicate effectively with the remote management team via Microsoft Teams; collaborate without direct on-site supervision

Required Background

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Biology, or related STEM discipline required (from an accredited institution)
  • Minimum 2 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously as the on-site quality point-of-contact; comfortable owning decisions and accountability without day-to-day supervision
  • Demonstrated record of good attendance, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9120; ISO 13485 is also acceptable)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand tolerancing limits; GD&T experience is a plus
  • Ability to interpret Material Test Reports, Inspection Data Results, and Certificates of Conformance
  • Experience using inspection tools: Calipers, Micrometers, Weight Scales, Optical CMM (Micro-Vu/Kalix), and Pi-Tape preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Able to work independently, identify problems, and communicate solutions to team members
  • Ability to prioritize workload and interact effectively in a dynamic, remote-managed environment
  • Ability to learn new inspection methods, techniques, and equipment programming
  • Team player capable of working with cross-functional groups
