Role Overview
The Senior Account Executive is a net-new business development role focused on selling custom trade show exhibits, experiential programs, and related services to enterprise-level clients. This is not an account manager position; success requires proactive prospecting, door-opening, and the ability to win business in a competitive, relationship-driven market.
Senior Account Executives own the full sales cycle from first outreach through close and long-term account expansion. Clients remain with the AE in perpetuity as long as they stay active, allowing high performers to build substantial, recurring income over time.
Success in this role requires industry credibility, consultative selling skills, comfort selling complex solutions, and the discipline to operate independently in a performance-based environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Prospect and acquire net-new enterprise clients within the trade show and experiential marketing space.
- Sell a full portfolio including custom exhibit design and fabrication, program management, rentals, logistics, and services.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline through cold outreach, referrals, social selling, email, and in-person engagement.
- Walk trade shows, attend events, and actively network within the industry to generate opportunities.
- Lead consultative sales conversations around brand experience, ROI, and long-term exhibit strategies.
- Collaborate with internal design, production, and project teams to develop winning solutions.
- Close deals ranging from $10Kâ$20K+ per project, with accounts expanding significantly over time.
- Maintain accurate forecasting, pricing discipline, and margin awareness.
- Execute land-and-expand strategies to grow accounts over multi-year client lifecycles.
- Build and manage a long-term book of business with no sunset clause.
Required Background
- Industry-specific experience is mandatory:
- Exhibit sales
- Custom trade show fabrication
- Experiential or live event sales
- Minimum 2+ years of experience selling $1.5M+ annually; 4+ years preferred.
- Proven hunter mentality with a track record of net-new business development.
- Experience selling complex, high-value B2B solutions combining product and services.
- Comfort operating independently in a remote, performance-driven environment.
- Strong pipeline management, closing skills, and consultative selling ability.
- Willingness to travel and be present at trade shows and client events.
Compensation & Perks
- $75,000 draw with a strong, uncapped commission plan.
- 21% commission on product sales and 15% on services, with favorable splits on repeat business.
- Ramp draw available for 3â6 months.
