About the Opportunity: This is a 12 Month Project in Cork, Ireland

As a Principal Automation Engineer and Technical Engineering Lead, you will be at the forefront of driving the technical success of multi-million dollar automation projects. You will lead and mentor a team of technical engineers, taking ownership of the technical design, development, and integration of complex automation systems. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with stringent quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Guidance: Provide clear technical direction, guidance, and oversight to a team of automation engineers.
  • Strategic Technical Planning: Develop and implement technical strategies and plans aligned with project goals and objectives.
  • Complex System Design: Lead the design of intricate automation systems, encompassing hardware, software (PLC, HMI, SCADA), and networking infrastructure.
  • Software Development Oversight: Guide and mentor the team in the development of robust automation software solutions.
  • Integration Expertise: Oversee the seamless integration of new automation systems with existing manufacturing equipment and infrastructure.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Lead technical discussions and effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Project Timeline & Budget Management: Take responsibility for managing project timelines and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Vendor Coordination: Effectively coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of necessary materials and services.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure all automation systems meet and exceed relevant quality standards (ISO, FDA, CE) and safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA).
  • Procedure Development & Implementation: Develop and implement robust quality and safety procedures to guarantee regulatory compliance.

What You'll Bring:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Instrumentation Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
  • 4 to 8 years of hands-on experience in Control and Automation.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems.
  • Proven experience with Allen-Bradley PLC.
  • Familiarity with Siemens PCS7.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation principles and best practices.
  • Experience with drives and motor control.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley safety relays.
  • Knowledge of Cognex Vision systems.
  • Proficiency in Siemens Step7, WinCC, and TIA Portal.
  • Experience with VFD (Variable Frequency Drives).
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as PROFIBUS, MODBUS, IEC 104, and IEC 61850.
  • Programming skills in accordance with IEC 61131-3 standards.
  • Direct project experience within the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device sectors.
