A Maintenance Supervisor directs and coordinates the repair, installation, and upkeep of machinery, equipment, and building systems to ensure optimal operational efficiency. They lead maintenance teams, schedule repairs, manage inventory, ensure safety compliance (OSHA), and perform hands-on maintenance tasks. Key goals include minimizing downtime and maintaining facility safety. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising maintenance technicians and contractors.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Developing and executing schedules for regular, preventive, and corrective maintenance of machinery and facilities.
  • Operations & Safety: Conducting inspections, repairing equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Inventory & Budget: Ordering supplies, managing tools, and assisting with budgeting and expenses.
  • Administration: Managing work orders, maintaining repair records, and reporting to upper management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience as a maintenance technician or supervisor, typically 10+ years, with knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Leadership: Ability to motivate a team, delegate tasks, and manage performance.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to handle emergency repairs and maintenance issues promptly.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and MS Office.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (often 50+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in various conditions, including confined spaces or extreme temperatures.

Work Environment

  • Typically works in a manufacturing, industrial, or residential facility, often on a full-time basis, which may include on-call duty or weekends.
