Database Administrator (MySQL) 1638A/B

Key responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, and optimise MySQL database environments
• Perform database installations, upgrades, and patches
• Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies
• Monitor database performance and tune for optimal efficiency
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness
• Automate common database maintenance tasks
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database design
• Implement and maintain database security measures
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations
• Conduct regular security audits and implement best practices
• Contribute to maintenance of MSSQL, Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a MySQL DBA
• MySQL Certified Professional certification
• Proven experience implementing and managing MySQL clusters
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python, Perl) for automation

Preferred Skills:

• MySQL Certified Professional certification
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
• Familiarity with database compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA)
• Experience with other database technologies (e.g., MSSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
