Job Overview:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse Workers Comp Case Manager with experience in occupational health. The overall responsibilities include helping to manage the care an individual receives after a workplace injury, help injured workers safely return to work, and manage the workers compensation claims process.
Responsibilities:
- Attendance at medical appointments and keep track of the injured employee's recovery.
- Communicate any work restrictions necessary for the employee to safely return to duties.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical history, current condition, and healthcare needs.
- Scheduling medical appointments, coordinating with the treating physician or care team, perform onsite care evaluations, and coordinate return-to-work plans.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the patient, their family, and healthcare team.
- Coordinate and facilitate communication between healthcare providers, specialists, and other stakeholders involved in the patient's care.
- Monitor and evaluate patients' progress towards their healthcare goals.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their medical condition, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
- Collaborate with social workers, discharge planners, and insurance companies to ensure appropriate discharge planning and utilization of resources.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
Experience:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or clinical setting
- Knowledge of NYC Worker compensation law is required
- Experience working in managing workers compensation cases
- Proven experience in case management or care coordination
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy guidelines
- Familiarity with various healthcare settings such as ER, ICU, primary care, managed care, etc.
- Proficient in conducting assessments, developing care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
