Job Overview:

We are seeking a Registered Nurse Workers Comp Case Manager with experience in occupational health. The overall responsibilities include helping to manage the care an individual receives after a workplace injury, help injured workers safely return to work, and manage the workers compensation claims process.

Responsibilities:

  • Attendance at medical appointments and keep track of the injured employee's recovery.
  • Communicate any work restrictions necessary for the employee to safely return to duties.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical history, current condition, and healthcare needs.
  • Scheduling medical appointments, coordinating with the treating physician or care team, perform onsite care evaluations, and coordinate return-to-work plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the patient, their family, and healthcare team.
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between healthcare providers, specialists, and other stakeholders involved in the patient's care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' progress towards their healthcare goals.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding their medical condition, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate with social workers, discharge planners, and insurance companies to ensure appropriate discharge planning and utilization of resources.
  • Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.

Experience:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Knowledge of NYC Worker compensation law is required
  • Experience working in managing workers compensation cases
  • Proven experience in case management or care coordination
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy guidelines
  • Familiarity with various healthcare settings such as ER, ICU, primary care, managed care, etc.
  • Proficient in conducting assessments, developing care plans, and evaluating patient outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
