Job Description:
Valiant is an innovative, award-winning platform connecting Australian business owners with the finance they need to kick goals. With pioneering tech, a diverse lending panel, and a talented team, we've revolutionised the business lending game. We bring the human touch to finance, making it accessible to Aussie SMEs and streamlining the (traditionally tedious) application process. We work with over 80 leading lenders to wow our clients with a seamless experience, from their initial enquiry through to settling funds.
Our global Enterprise technology arm provides embedded finance experience and orchestration infrastructure to enterprise clients. We pride ourselves on building and delivering category-leading tech products across the US, Australia and the UK for top-tier global businesses. We have a strong growth agenda and are always looking for top talent to join the pursuit of our vision to unleash the economic potential of every idea!
We're looking for a motivated and user-centric Chief Marketing Officer to spearhead our fast-moving Marketing team and help us continue to build and innovate our award-winning function. You will own the marketing function from strategy to execution, working with a passionate and high performance team.
Role and responsibilities
- Setting the marketing vision - Define and evolve Valiants marketing strategy across brand, performance, content, partnerships and CRM - with a strong point of view on where marketing is heading, not where its been.
- Building and leading in-house capability - Lead and scale in-house design, content and media teams. This role is hands-on with structure, workflows, quality and velocity. It is not just managing agencies at arms length.
- Driving execution, not just strategy- Translate strategy into campaigns, and always-on programs that deliver. You care deeply about craft, speed and outcomes, not presentations.
- Owning go-to-market - Design and execute best-practice GTM motions across channels, informed by data and experimentation
- Being deeply commercial- Partner closely with Sales, Product and Finance to drive pipeline, revenue and sustainable growth. You understand CAC, LTV and how marketing creates real returns.
- Working directly with media and platforms - Maintain strong relationships with media owners and platforms. Youre comfortable buying, negotiating, testing and optimising, not just briefing and approving.
- Championing small business - Build marketing that genuinely understands small business owners and the challenges/opportunities they face.
Your background
- 10+ years experience in B2B marketing, ideally within fintech, financial services and/or SMB-focused businesses.
- Experience across both agency and in-house environments, with time spent being hands-on. You understand how the work actually gets done.
- A creative thinker with strong curiosity for modern marketing, technology, media and emerging models.
- Data-driven and commercially minded, with a proven ability to connect marketing activity to revenue outcomes.
- Experience operating in high-volume, high-velocity sales environments, where speed, and execution matter.
- A track record managing large media and marketing budgets, with accountability for performance and ROI.
- Experience leading remote and hybrid marketing teams, building strong culture and pace across locations.
- Background in a scale-up environment, with a clear understanding of what best-practice go-to-market looks like as businesses grow.
- A genuine desire to build teams, systems, and brands, not just maintain what already exists.
