Roughneck / Floorhand

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Floorhand is responsible to the Driller for the work carried out on the Rig Floor and will also assist the Assistant Driller & Drilling Fluids Operator as required. FLOORHANDS MUST HOLD FORKLIFT LICENSE.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with the Company Quality Management procedures.
  • To make connections and trip in/out of the hole as directed by the Driller.
  • To use and operate all rig floor handling equipment.
  • To carry out routine maintenance on the rig floor equipment.
  • To maintain all tools in a clean and safe condition and ensure the return of equipment to its correct place.
  • To assist and relieve the DFO as required.
  • To maintain the rig floor, sub-structure and associated areas in a clean and tidy condition.
  • To carry out rig maintenance and repair tasks, as directed.
  • To prepare tubular for running.
  • To use and operate the forklift for site operations (only when certified).

Safety Responsibilities:

  • To be familiar and comply with the Company Safety Policy and to take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of themself and persons likely to be affected by their acts or omissions as required under local Health and Safety legislation.
  • To bring to the immediate notice of their supervisor, actual and potential hazards to safety, health, plant and equipment, which come to their attention in the course of their work.
  • To properly use and care for personal protective equipment.
  • To attend safety meetings, emergency drills, in accordance with the Company Safety Policy.
  • Responsible for stopping any operation, condition or situation which is deemed unsafe.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Preferred 2-year experience on offshore/onshore drilling rigs as Floorhand or similar drilling related position.
  • Conversant with safety management principles.
  • Well Control Certificate, IWCF Level 1.
  • Working knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
  • Safety Training Courses and Medical Certificate (UKOOA or Equivalent) in accordance with the requirements stipulated for regular crew by the authority for the current operating area. Local medical examination might be conducted when required.

Training as per the Training Matrix or as designated by Vanguard Drilling. Forklift license, IWCF Level 1, OEUK Medical & VCA/SCC/MIST.
