Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer for an onsite position in their Troy Michigan office. The Electrical Engineer provides Engineering expertise and support to estimating, project management, and customers as it relates to a project. The Electrical Engineer also provides support and expertise to the other members of the engineering team such as the VDC Engineers. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and coordinate all power and lighting distribution systems meeting project specifications under the guidance of a Professional Engineer (PE) on staff
  • Manage and schedule 3D modelers/2D Drafters (VDC/BIM modelers)
  • Review, edit and write project specifications under the guidance of a PE on staff
  • Generate and/or review production submittals against project specifications under the guidance of a PE on staff
  • Assist in the estimating process for Electrical contractors by attending jobsite walk throughs, defining scope, and generating bill of materials
  • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • 2-5 years minimum experience with an electrical contracting company (preferred) and/or Architectural/Engineering firm required
  • Strong skills and proficient in Revit software required
  • Proven experience with reviewing, editing, and writing project specifications required
  • Experience with generating and/or reviewing production submittals against project specifications required
  • Experience with walk throughs, defining scope and generating bill of materials required
  • Must be self-directed
  • Must also be able to manage others and possess strong communication skills
  • Ability to work cohesively with other departments within the company
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and follow projects to completion
  • Strong problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time to jobsites in multiple states
