Continuous Improvement Technician

Location: Based out of Unilux (Woodbridge) and Dasco (Brampton); with occasional travel to Canada Stampings (Woodstock) and Unilux West (London)

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Continuous Improvement Technician to support ongoing process improvement and maintenance activities across our Ontario facilities. This position plays a key role in implementing and sustaining CI initiatives, supporting operational efficiency, and addressing equipment and process-related issues across multiple sites.

Hours of Work

Hours of work for this position are 8am-4pm Tuesday to Saturday or as needed to support production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in continuous improvement (CI) initiatives at Unilux, Dasco, and other facilities as required.
  • Perform fault-finding, troubleshooting, and general maintenance activities, primarily at Unilux (Woodbridge) and Dasco (Brampton).
  • Assist in fabricating components or modifying equipment to improve processes and reduce downtime.
  • Provide basic coaching and guidance to employees on standardized work practices, 5S principles, and workplace safety (Ontario and Canada OHSACT).
  • Create and maintain process documentation (e.g., process sheets, work instructions).
  • Liaise with the CI Director and plant leadership teams on projects and priorities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Completion of or working toward a mechanical trade certification (e.g., Millwright, Tool & Die Maker) is an asset.
  • Proven experience with mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with CI tools and methods (5S, lean manufacturing, Kaizen) is an asset.

Qualifications & Experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient with hand tools (e.g., grinders, drills, saws, lathes).
  • Ability to gas and/or arc weld; familiarity with a range of welding methods is considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems, with an understanding of typical plant operating conditions.
  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery, such as presses, compressors, and automated safety controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Basic computer literacy and strong communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently across multiple sites.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required.
  • Must hold a valid Class G License and have their own vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed)
