About the job Assistant Financial Accountant
Vault Outsourcing is looking for an experienced AU Financial Accountant to support one of our Australian corporate clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for accounting professionals with experience supporting Australian clients or businesses. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality general accounting services, including month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and day-to-day finance operations.
The successful candidate will have experience in Australian general accounting, hands-on Oracle ERP experience, strong reconciliation skills, and excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced shared services environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Month-End Activities
- Support month-end close activities, including journal processing and general ledger close
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with accurate and timely resolution of reconciling items
- Assist in preparing basic management reports and financial accounting schedules
- Support statutory reporting requirements as needed
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies
Reconciliations & Transaction Processing
- Perform bank reconciliations and transactional reconciliations
- Complete matching activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions
- Investigate and resolve transactional discrepancies, including misallocations, late adjustments, and intercompany mismatches
- Escalate complex accounting issues where appropriate
Finance Operations
- Support Accounts Receivable activities and supplier maintenance processes
- Assist with cost control, capital expenditure (CAPEX), and operational expenditure (OPEX) accounting
- Manage the shared finance inbox and respond to finance-related enquiries in a timely manner
- Support business units with accounting and reporting queries
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Assist in identifying and resolving accounting process and internal control issues
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance finance operations and efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support sustainability initiatives by promoting responsible workplace practices
Stakeholder Management
- Build positive working relationships with internal finance teams and business stakeholders
- Provide timely support for accounting enquiries and financial reporting requirements
- Collaborate with team members to achieve finance service delivery objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 2 years of experience in General Accounting, Assistant Accountant, Shared Services, or a similar accounting role
- Experience supporting an Australian client, business, or Australian accounting function is required
- Hands-on experience using Oracle ERP in a General Accounting or Finance function is required
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred
- Experience using TM1
- Progressing towards or holding a CA or CPA qualification
