GENERAL SUMMARY
The Construction Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of architectural and construction projects across the Southeast. Reporting to the Managing Director or Studio Director, this position is responsible for supporting project scope, schedule, and budget while working collaboratively with the Project Architect, Project Designer, and multidisciplinary internal teams. The Construction Administrator helps maintain design integrity, oversees construction-phase documentation, and ensures that projects progress efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with firm standards. This role requires a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and can manage multiple concurrent projects with confidence and clarity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
This position requires working closely with a team of in-house architects, interior designers, planners, landscape architects, and consultants on multiple projects with a variety of project diversity throughout the Southeast to meet scheduled deliverables. The successful candidate must be a leader, self-starter, organized, flexible, and possess a strong work ethic. The following duties are normal for the position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Project Coordination & Administration

  • Work closely with in-house architects, interior designers, planners, landscape architects, and external consultants to support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain ongoing correspondence with consultants regarding submittals, schedules, and project updates.
  • Coordinate project schedules and ensure timely delivery of construction administration tasks.
  • Manage and track project documentation, including shop drawings, RFIs, contracts, and related records.
  • Support the Managing Director in maintaining project scope, schedule, and budget throughout all phases of construction.

Construction Oversight & Site Support

  • Travel to project sites throughout South Carolina and/or North Carolina to observe construction progress and verify compliance with design intent.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving construction-related issues in collaboration with project teams.
  • Review payment applications for accuracy and alignment with project progress.

Documentation & Technical Review

  • Read, interpret, and evaluate construction documents with a high level of technical accuracy.
  • Record and track construction-phase documentation, ensuring completeness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Support the design and procurement processes by coordinating information flow between project teams and consultants.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong technical understanding of construction documents and the ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to accurately record and track shop drawings, RFIs, contracts, and related documentation.
  • Solid understanding of design and procurement processes.
  • Ability to review payment applications with precision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong project management skills, including the application of tools, techniques, and methodologies to meet project requirements.
  • Professional presence demonstrated through competence, reliability, honesty, integrity, respect, positivity, and active listening.
  • Graphic presentation skills, including hand drawing and computer rendering.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Vision, AIA contract documents, and Revit.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in construction administration or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary design teams is preferred.
