Venture Dynamics is seeking an experienced Hot Work Coordinator to support Navy and commercial ship repair operations. The Hot Work Coordinator is responsible exclusively for administering and coordinating hot work authorization processes in accordance with contract requirements, shipyard procedures, and Navy safety standards. This role serves as the central coordination point between repair activities, supervision, and ship representatives to ensure hot work is properly authorized, scheduled, and executed without conflict. Work is performed in active shipyard and shipboard environments supporting repair availabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Hot Work Coordinator responsible for managing hot work authorization for assigned repair activities

  • Receive, review, and process all hot work authorization forms submitted by requesting activities

  • Verify that hot work authorization forms are complete and compliant prior to approval

  • Maintain required tracking documentation for each approved hot work authorization

  • Confirm with the Hot Work Supervisor that hot work is ready to commence and properly secured upon completion

  • Conduct daily coordination meetings with repair activity representatives, ship representatives, and shipyard supervision to identify and eliminate hot work conflicts

  • Advise supervision of hot work issues that may impact production schedules or vessel operations

  • Ensure revisions to hot work authorization forms are processed and approved prior to continuation of affected work

  • Submit approved hot work documentation to designated ship representatives for recordkeeping

  • Prioritize hot work execution each shift based on the integrated production schedule

  • Participate in Fire Safety Council meetings when required

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience serving as a Hot Work Coordinator in a shipyard, maritime, or heavy industrial environment

  • Strong working knowledge of shipyard hot work authorization processes and Navy safety requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple hot work authorizations concurrently in an active repair environment

  • U.S. citizenship when required by contract

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required base or facility access credentials, including DBIDS

  • Firewatch trained in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-70 or OSHA 29 CFR 1915.504

  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing per customer requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Navy ship repair availabilities

  • Familiarity with Fire Safety Council processes and deviation adjudication

  • OSHA 10 Maritime certification

Additional Information

Work is performed in active shipyard and shipboard environments supporting hot work operations. The role requires coordination within industrial settings and access to vessels and repair areas. Exposure to active production environments is expected. PPE is required in accordance with site safety policies. Work schedules may include extended hours, nights, weekends, and variable shifts based on production requirements.
