Venture Dynamics is seeking experienced Maintenance Mechanics at Journeyperson levels J1 through J4 to support ship repair and marine maintenance projects. This role performs mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation work aboard Navy and commercial vessels in active shipyard environments. Candidates will be considered at the appropriate journeyperson level based on demonstrated experience and ability to work independently. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand, with the potential for long-term placement or permanent hire with select clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, removal, and installation of mechanical equipment and components used in shipboard and industrial applications.
  • Inspect mechanical systems and equipment to identify wear, damage, leaks, alignment issues, or other conditions requiring repair.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical components in accordance with applicable work instructions and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment required to complete Maintenance Mechanic work safely and accurately.
  • Read and follow technical drawings, equipment documentation, work packages, and repair specifications applicable to assigned work.
  • Support equipment installation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and mechanical repair activities during ship repair projects.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, leads, and other shipyard trades to complete assigned production work within project requirements.
  • J3 and J4 mechanics may perform work with limited supervision and provide technical guidance or work direction to less-experienced personnel based on project needs.

Requirements

  • Previous mechanical maintenance, repair, or ship repair experience appropriate to the J1, J2, J3, or J4 level being considered.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment, components, and standard maintenance and repair practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and determine appropriate repair steps within the candidate's demonstrated experience level.
  • Ability to safely use common mechanical hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, specifications, work instructions, and equipment documentation.
  • Ability to perform physical Maintenance Mechanic work in an active shipyard environment, including working aboard vessels and in production areas.
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a ship repair crew while following established production and site safety requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain required shipyard or base access credentials when required by the assigned project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience performing mechanical maintenance or repair aboard Navy, military, or commercial vessels.
  • Experience working in a shipyard, dry dock, marine repair facility, or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime training.
  • Familiarity with Navy ship repair practices, technical documentation, or NAVSEA requirements.
  • Previous experience working on multi-trade ship repair or vessel maintenance projects.
