Key Responsibilities:

Client Care:

  • Deliver exceptional service and communication to clients

  • Provide regular updates following procedures or patient hospitalisation

  • Manage concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently

  • Ensure clients are fully informed regarding care plans, estimates, and treatment progress

Patient Care:

  • Conduct consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures as required

  • Responsible for admissions, discharges, and accurate clinical record-keeping

  • Ensure patient wellbeing through careful monitoring and continuity of care

  • Prescribe and dispense medications appropriately

  • Complete clinical handovers and arrange OOH or advanced care transfers if needed

Standards & Compliance:

  • Maintain full regulatory and practice standards

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols

  • Support consistent implementation of best practices in clinical work

Clinical Leadership & Communication:

  • Actively contribute to clinical meetings and team discussions

  • Mentor and support colleagues and newer vets as needed

  • Share knowledge and promote a progressive clinical culture

  • Champion the role of nurse consults and cross-team collaboration

Commercial Performance:

  • Prepare clear and accurate treatment plans and cost estimates

  • Ensure timely payment and contribute to managing client debt

  • Support the efficient use of clinical resources to maximise case capacity

Candidate Requirements:

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

  • 35+ years' experience in small animal general practice (UK preferred)

  • Confident in consultations, general surgery, and routine diagnostics

  • Interest or experience in medicine or ultrasonography is desirable but not essential

  • Strong team player with excellent communication and client care skills

  • Demonstrates clinical leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement

  • Understands the value of nurse-led care and the wider support team
