Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages multiple projects with an emphasis on seismic upgrades, critical repairs, and retrofit efforts

Supervises a team of design professionals through the design review process

Oversees and coordinates the architectural and engineering (A&E) services to ensure alignment with program, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements

Interfaces with architects, consultants, and internal personnel to ensure timely project delivery

Ensures building design compliance with district-wide standards and educational facility guidelines
-
Develops and follows a structured process to select qualified architectural firms for each project
-
Provides architectural teams with direction on goals, objectives, schedules, budgets, and design expectations
-
Implements a thorough and efficient design review process

Ensures design delivers maximum value within budget, meets community needs, and adheres to sustainability standards

Reviews and approves design changes to maintain alignment with project budgets
-
Monitors planning and design milestones and provides updates, findings, and recommendations
-
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree from a recognized institution in architecture, urban planning, or a related field
-
(Masters degree in architecture preferred)

14 years of full-time paid experience in facilities design, capital project planning, and coordination
-
Including overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling
-
4 years of experience must involve educational facilities or similar public-sector projects
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Valid California Architect license (Certificate of Registration)
