Job Description:

Summary
The Senior Apparatus Engineer provides technical expertise and leadership for transmission and distribution (T&D) assets. This role is responsible for developing and revising technical specifications and standards for new and existing assets, covering all aspects of design, construction, operation, and maintenance. The position plays a key role in advancing grid reliability, resiliency, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring, equipment inspections, and grid technology reviews, while fostering cross-functional knowledge transfer.

  • Lead the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective development, integration, and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies.

  • Support engineering and business initiatives, including the development of innovative procedures and design recommendations.

  • Provide guidance for new equipment installation and startup, ensuring smooth handover to operational teams.

  • Mentor junior engineers in assessing risks and investigating issues within the distribution system infrastructure.

  • Gather, analyze, and correlate data using engineering studies and procedures, including diagnostic testing of components and systems.

  • Facilitate training and professional development opportunities for team members.

  • Ensure protection of physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets while maintaining the highest standards of conduct in handling sensitive information and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical/math field.

  • Seven or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.

  • Valid Class C Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with distribution systems and apparatus equipment, including application, specification, design, and operation standards.

  • Skilled in T&D automation and applying new products and features to enhance grid reliability and safety.

  • Strong analytical ability to evaluate information, make strategic decisions, and assess the impacts of alternatives.

  • Effective collaborator, experienced in working with clients, peers, project teams, and management to achieve solutions and stakeholder alignment.

  • Proven ability to develop asset roadmaps and implementation strategies.

  • Demonstrated success in product development supporting new equipment and materials.

  • Expertise in managing risk and safety, developing business plans, and ensuring high-quality customer service.

  • Strong decision-making skills; results-oriented, team-oriented, and proactive in staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
