Job Summary
Administers the ordering, receipt, storage, control, distribution, and repair of specialized merchandise, consumable goods, and highway maintenance materials and equipment in a centralized or satellite warehouse for a Highway Maintenance District.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Associates degree with major coursework in business administration or accounting. Additional approved formal education may substitute for required work experience on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
Three years of experience in receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking a wide variety of inventory using computerized control systems, including two years in a supervisory role. Additional approved work experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis.
License/Certification:
Valid drivers license. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet agency standards.
Special Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of computer database management, automated data collection systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and Windows applications.
- Thorough understanding of small equipment repair and maintenance.
Special Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and steps to access equipment and elevated work areas.
- Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work extended hours during transportation events or emergencies.
- Must be available for 24/7 call-back duty throughout the year.
- All responsibilities must be completed in compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and departmental policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise inventory and maintain adequate stock of specialized merchandise, consumable goods, PPE, hardware, and highway maintenance materials in accordance with established inventory systems.
- Manage ordering, delivery, inspection, and inventory of winter maintenance materials such as de-icing salt, sand, and calcium chloride; review and approve related invoices.
- Develop specifications and prepare requisitions and orders for specialized equipment, including plows, machinery, attachments, power tools, and hand tools.
- Oversee tracking, ordering, receipt, and distribution of pool equipment, tools, and supplies used throughout the district.
- Respond to routine inquiries and resolve issues with suppliers, vendors, and contractors regarding product availability, specifications, and ordering procedures.
- Manage registration, inventory, and surplus of district-owned facilities and equipment; coordinate records with appropriate agencies and bureaus.
- Schedule and perform preventive and routine maintenance on warehouse vehicles, equipment, and buildings to ensure safety and reliability.
- Receive and inspect delivered materials, equipment, and supplies; review and approve invoices for payment.
