Position Description: 

A Senior Systems Engineer is needed to provide acquisition, technical, and engineering support for a defense contract supporting satellite communications systems. The role involves working with government teams to modernize and sustain the Satellite Control Network (SCN), with responsibilities spanning systems engineering, networking, software integration, and cybersecurity.

Duties include:

  • Provide systems engineering and integration technical support for satellite communications network systems, including Telemetry, Tracking & Control (TT&C), scheduling, communications, and related systems

  • Perform system architecture engineering, requirements analysis, and system performance test and verification

  • Analyze user needs and requirements to inform architectural planning

  • Review and assess contractor designs and conduct trade studies of alternative system design approaches

  • Support the development and review of planning guidance related to cyber operations

  • Contribute to system-of-systems engineering efforts, including network, database, and software integration

  • Provide analysis and recommendations to mitigate POAM (Plan of Action and Milestones) line items

Qualifications Required (Skills):

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)

  • 10+ years of relevant systems engineering experience

  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes

  • Strong background in systems architecture, requirements, and CONOPS development

  • Ability to analyze system problems, define solutions, and perform technical analysis and trade studies

  • Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologies

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, software security, and Zero Trust architecture

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

Qualifications Desired:

  • Working knowledge of the Satellite Control Network (SCN) or similar Department of Defense programs

  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CCNA

  • Experience with communications and software system architecture

  • Experience with ASCA

  • Current TS/SCI clearance
