Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Rotating Shifts
Work Schedule: Full Time, Rotating Shifts (7am7pm / 7pm7am)
Job Summary
Provides and coordinates independent nursing care to patients as a fully effective member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Utilizes evidence-based practices to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Serves as a clinical resource for peers, supports professional development, and contributes to patient safety and quality initiatives.
Essential Functions
Clinical Practice

Provide competent care for unit-specific patient populations with strong clinical skills.

Serve as a clinical resource for colleagues.

Apply and integrate evidence-based practices into patient care.

Function effectively in unit-specific roles (e.g., arrest team for ICU, triage for ED).

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate care, advocating for patients and families.

Model safe, timely, efficient, and equitable care practices.
Professional Development

Maintain required competencies for assigned care setting.

Pursue ongoing professional growth and attend staff development independently.

Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new nurses and students.

Contribute to orientation and education programs.

Support the skill development of nursing support personnel.

Complete continuing education requirements annually.
Service/Quality

Contribute to unit outcomes related to quality measures and performance improvement.

Patient Safety

Identify and act on risks to patient safety.

Report adverse events and near misses appropriately.

Operations

Demonstrate ability to function in the charge nurse role.

Participate in team-building, staff briefings, and governance activities.

Support recruitment and retention efforts at the unit level.

Provide constructive feedback through peer review and as directed by nursing leadership.
Qualifications

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland or eligible through Compact agreements.

Must meet all federal, state, and local professional nursing requirements.

Current AHA BLS certification required.

Must obtain and maintain unit-specific certifications (e.g., PALS, ACLS, NRP).

Minimum 12 months nursing experience with solid clinical knowledge and skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Basic computer proficiency required.
