Role Summary:

The Category Specialist is responsible for delivering strategic procurement and contracting support across assigned categories by partnering closely with commercial, sales, marketing, and key internal stakeholders. The role focuses on developing and executing category strategies, sourcing initiatives, supplier management, and contracting activities to ensure cost optimization, operational efficiency, compliance, and value delivery.

The incumbent will manage both pre-award and post-award procurement and contracting activities, including sourcing strategy development, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiation, contract administration, and claims mitigation. This role also supports continuous improvement initiatives and digital procurement transformation efforts within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category sourcing and procurement strategies aligned with business objectives and operational requirements.
  • Partner closely with commercial, sales, marketing, and internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and demand forecasts.
  • Lead sourcing activities including supplier identification, RFQ/RFP processes, bid evaluations, and commercial negotiations.
  • Conduct commercial and financial analysis to support supplier selection and procurement decision-making.
  • Manage end-to-end contracting activities covering both pre-award and post-award processes.
  • Review scopes of work and provide commercial and contracting guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Legal and cross-functional teams to ensure contract compliance, risk mitigation, and effective contract execution.
  • Monitor supplier performance and support supplier relationship management initiatives to ensure service quality and value delivery.
  • Support procurement process improvement initiatives and drive operational efficiency through ERP systems and digital procurement tools.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, governance standards, and ethical practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Law, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, contracting, or supply chain operations, preferably within the petrochemical or oil & gas industries.
  • Strong sourcing, negotiation, analytical, and commercial evaluation skills.
  • Good understanding of procurement processes, contracting practices, and supplier management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, digital procurement tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, decision-making capability, and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
