Position Overview
A growing transportation and logistics provider is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Driver Manager to oversee a fleet of professional truck drivers. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely, safe, and cost-effective movement of freight. The Driver Manager will coordinate routing, monitor compliance, manage driver performance, and serve as the primary point of contact for drivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a designated fleet of drivers to ensure on-time pickup and delivery of freight

Dispatch drivers, conduct check calls, and monitor load status

Log and escalate any service issues, delays, or incidents using AS400 or similar systems

Respond to driver and customer concerns promptly and professionally

Promote safety and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies

Maintain accurate documentation for all driver communications and load activity

Track and communicate performance metrics (e.g., HOS, safety, on-time performance)

Support daily logistics including routing, scheduling, payroll inquiries, and equipment coordination

Collaborate with internal departments (Customer Service, Planning, Safety) to meet delivery expectations

Foster open communication and positive working relationships with driving personnel

Maintain a reliable, consistent on-site presence and participate in on-call coverage as required
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred

Minimum of 2 years of experience in driver management, dispatch, or logistics operations
- Prior experience with AS400 or similar Transportation Management Systems highly preferred
Technical Skills

Working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) compliance

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Familiarity with transportation or fleet management platforms (e.g., TMS)
Interpersonal Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication

Strong multitasking ability and time management in a high-pressure environment

High attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions quickly

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
Work Schedule & Expectations

Standard schedule: Monday to Friday.

Flexibility required for early/late hours depending on operational needs

Participation in rotating on-call or weekend coverage may be required
