About this role

We are looking for a SQL specialist with a Business Analyst mindset to support data-driven decision-making through metadata and analytical insights. This role sits at the intersection of data, business processes, and analytics, focusing on understanding, analyzing, and structuring metadata across systems.

You will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to explore datasets, analyze relationships, define metrics, and translate complex data structures into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret metadata across databases, data models, and reporting layers
• Write advanced SQL queries to explore, validate, and analyze complex datasets
• Support business analysis through:
  • Data profiling and data quality analysis
  • Identifying patterns, dependencies, and data lineage
  • Defining and documenting KPIs, metrics, and data definitions
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics needs
• Translate business questions into structured SQL-based analysis
• Support reporting, dashboards, and downstream analytics teams with well-defined data logic
• Document data models, metadata definitions, and analytical findings
• Act as a bridge between business users and technical data teams

Requirements

• Strong, hands-on SQL expertise (complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, performance-aware queries)
• Experience working in a Business Analyst or data-focused BA role
• Proven experience with metadata analysis, data modeling concepts, or data lineage
• Ability to understand complex data structures and explain them to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Good level of English language as you will be working with the English-speaking team.

Nice to Have

• Experience with data catalogs or metadata management tools
• Exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
• Understanding of ETL / ELT pipelines and data warehousing concepts
• Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks
