About the job Data Scientist
About Virtido
Virtido is an entrepreneurial and innovative IT company headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. We realize ideas and projects - from strategic concept to technical implementation closely alongside our dynamic clients with a strong focus on start-up or fast-growing companies. Since inception in 2015, we have grown rapidly to currently 140+ professionals in Switzerland, Poland, Ukraine and the Philippines.
About Our Client
Our client is an Insurtech company that offers advanced analytics solutions for insurance companies. Our Client uses curated, industry-relevant external data as inputs to improving traditional methods of portfolio segmentation, risk selection and pricing. These inputs capture and very accurately predict key external trend changes, which then serve as benchmark analytics that an insurer can use to compare with their own book´s performance and re-calibrate, as needed.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist (5+ years) who can work independently and take full ownership of a data-driven project for an insurance client. The project involves extracting, structuring, and analyzing data from a variety of sources to generate actionable insights, identify patterns, assess risks, and provide predictive recommendations that will support strategic decision-making.
This role requires a hands-on professional who can operate without close guidance, define approaches, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
The initial phase of this project will last approximately 1 month and we're looking for a professional who can dedicate 50% of their availability (approximately 20 hours per week). Additional consulting engagement is possible after this phase as well.

- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Present findings in a clear and actionable way, tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Document processes, methodologies, and results to support long-term use.
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Data Scientist, ideally with exposure to financial services or insurance.
- Strong background in data extraction, data wrangling, and integration from multiple sources.
- Understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and predictive analytics (nice to have).
- Strong knowledge of Python, R, or similar data science languages and libraries.
- Good level of English language (you will be communicating with English-speaking team members on a regular basis).
- Experience working with insurance or other regulated industries (nice to have).
- Experience with visualization tools is nice to have (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
