About this role

The Data Solution Architect is responsible for designing, building, and governing scalable, secure, cloud‑based data solutions that support IATA's enterprise data strategy and operational goals. Reporting to the Senior Data Architect, this role is hands‑on, technology‑oriented, and ensures all data solutions align with IATA's Unified Architecture framework, governance policies, and integration standards.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement scalable, secure cloud‑based data architectures 

- Define and document solution‑level technical standards and support their adoption across internal and external delivery teams

- Design and optimise end‑to‑end data platform components, including: data ingestion and integration, transformation and orchestration, data distribution and consumption, analytics enablement and ML pipeline integration

- Architect real‑time and event‑driven data solutions using streaming technologies such as Kafka

- Produce high‑quality architecture diagrams and technical documentation using enterprise‑grade modelling tools

- Collaborate with solution architects, data engineers, analysts, governance teams, and business stakeholders to define data flows and system interfaces

- Embed data governance principles (privacy, quality, compliance) into solution designs in partnership with the Data Governance team

- Support the full data project lifecycle from requirements and design through deployment and transition to operations

- Guide BI and reporting solution integration to ensure consistency across the enterprise reporting landscape

Requirements

- Cloud‑native data architecture expertise (AWS mandatory; Snowflake and GCP highly desirable)

- Strong knowledge of data integration, orchestration, and streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka)

- Experience with ETL tools, BI platforms, and analytics enablement

- Hands‑on experience designing and supporting ML data pipelines (model preparation, deployment, monitoring)

- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)

- Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, privacy, and data quality principles

- Good communication skills with strong level of English (B2+)

- Familiarity with airline IT systems (preferred)
