Staff Accountant

Location: Remote

Level: Entry - Staff

Reports to: Senior Accountant

The Staff Accountant will assist the Director Central Processing with processing exception transactions that are outside of the normal flow within our operating system and determining the downstream impacts of those exceptions to accounting and to information sent to partners via APIs. The role will also include reconciling our operating system to various platforms, both internal and external, and testing new software enhancements prior to their release.

The ideal candidate will be deadline driven and can work independently. The candidate should take ownership in their responsibilities and initiative to understand the who, what, why and how of processes from beginning to end.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with many departments within the company, including Project Management, Software Development, Call Center, Customer Solutions, and Accounting.

Essential Functions:

  • Reconcile Retail Partner transaction records against internal transaction records.
  • Initiate manual API calls to Retail Partners to address reconciling items, or work with software development team to complete more complex API calls.
  • Create correcting entries for any reconciling items identified and provide to general ledger accounting team.
  • Review new program or promotion accounting on go live date to identify issues and create correcting entries.
  • Troubleshoot exceptions to identify root cause within operating system and submit software development tickets to resolve.
  • Track and follow up on submitted software development tickets to ensure timely implementation of resolution.
  • Test payment flow and accounting related system development enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree with an emphasis in accounting.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ year experience in bookkeeping, banking, finance, or accounting role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
