About the job PICK/ PICK BASIC Developer
We are seeking an experienced PICK / PICK BASIC Developer to support enterprise legacy application development and modernization initiatives. The role closely aligns with large-system integration and managed services delivery models.
The candidate will work on mission-critical PICK-based systems, supporting enhancements, integrations, and ongoing operational stability in a regulated enterprise environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Development & Support
- Design, develop, and maintain applications using PICK / PICK BASIC
- Work on legacy PICK systems including application enhancements, bug fixes, and performance optimization
- Support batch processing, reporting, and transaction-based systems
- Analyze existing code and perform refactoring or modernization where required
System Integration & Data Handling
- Handle multi-value database structures (UniVerse / UniData / D3 / jBASE)
- Develop and maintain interfaces between PICK systems and external applications
- Support data extraction, transformation, and reconciliation activities
- Work with flat files, APIs, and middleware tools for system integration
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare technical documentation, functional specifications, and support guides
- Follow enterprise change management and release processes
- Adhere to data security, audit, and compliance standards (especially healthcare / insurance)
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
Mandatory
- Strong hands-on experience in PICK / PICK BASIC programming
- Experience with MultiValue databases:
- UniVerse
- UniData
- D3
- jBASE
- Strong understanding of:
- File structures
- Dictionaries
- Indexing
- TCL commands
- Unix / Linux operating system exposure
- Shell scripting (basic to intermediate)
Good to Have
- Experience integrating PICK systems with modern platforms
- Exposure to Java, .NET, or web services
- Experience in application modernization or legacy migration projects
