Virtucruit is partnering with a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia to appoint a Fire Assayer within the Mining Laboratory & Quality Control function.

This role is responsible for conducting fire assay tests and other analytical procedures to determine the content of precious metals in ore and concentrates. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely analysis, maintain laboratory equipment, follow strict safety and quality protocols, and provide reliable data to support operational decision-making and metallurgical performance.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained.
• Prepare samples and fluxes according to standard procedures.
• Understand and adjust flux formulations based on sample type and behavior.
• Operate and monitor furnaces safely and efficiently.
• Carry out troubleshooting and minor maintenance of furnaces.
• Identify furnace-related issues and coordinate with maintenance when required.
• Ensure correct sample identification and full traceability throughout the process.
• Follow sample priorities and meet turnaround time requirements.
• Perform routine QC checks (CRMs, duplicates, blanks).
• Record and report result accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fire assay area.
• Follow all laboratory safety procedures, especially when handling high-temperature equipment and chemicals.
• Supports the development and training of local nationals by providing mentorship, guidance, and coaching, leading to their growth and development.

QUALIFICATION:

• Technical Diploma or High School with equivalent years of experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in fire assay (gold analysis), with the ability to operate
and troubleshoot furnaces independently.
• Strong practical experience with fusion, cupellation, and weighing processes.
• Good understanding of flux composition and behavior.
• Familiarity with QA/QC practices.
• Ability to work in a shift-based, high workload environment.
• Physically fit to work in high-temperature conditions.
• Basic English communication skills (both oral and written).
