eCommerce Director
Job Description:
Our client is a major Saudi business with a live and growing online channel. A confidential search is underway to appoint an eCommerce Director to lead the day-to-day operation of the channel and drive its commercial performance.
The eCommerce Director is the senior operator who runs the online channel on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. This is a hands-on, trading-led role. The successful candidate will know what a strong online business looks like in the moment, will live inside the numbers, and will be comfortable making fast, evidence-based decisions on pricing, promotion, product placement, and operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Run the daily and weekly trading rhythm for the online channel, including sales, conversion, basket size, traffic, and contribution by category.
- Own the online promotional calendar in coordination with the commercial and marketing teams, with disciplined pre and post-event analysis.
- Manage online pricing execution, exclusivity, and competitive positioning across categories.
- Own how the assortment is presented online, including taxonomy, search, recommendations, content quality, and category visualization.
- Drive a structured content roadmap to lift conversion and average order value across priority categories.
- Run the site merchandising calendar in lockstep with the buying and category teams.
- Manage the day-to-day operational performance of the online channel, including order management, delivery service levels, returns, and customer escalations.
- Work hand in hand with the supply chain team to maintain availability, accuracy, and speed.
- Own the operational metrics reported to senior leadership.
- Build and run the weekly trading pack, with clear, decision-grade insight, not vanity dashboards.
- Identify the small set of operational levers that drive disproportionate value, and execute against them.
- Develop the analytics capability the channel needs.
- Lead a team of trading, merchandising, content, and operations specialists with clear targets and weekly accountability.
- Develop Saudi national talent inside the channel as a deliberate part of the role.
- Set the cadence and the standard of execution for the wider digital organization.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Ten to fifteen years in eCommerce or direct-to-consumer roles, with at least three to five years at Director or Head of eCommerce level.
- Direct, recent ownership of online trading, including weekly P&L accountability, promotional execution, and site merchandising.
- Experience leading the operational side of a high-growth online channel.
- Sharp trading instinct, with the ability to read the numbers and act inside the week.
- Strong operational discipline across order management, fulfillment, customer service, and returns.
- Working fluency in modern eCommerce tooling, including content management, search, personalization, and analytics platforms.
- Clear, evidence-based decision-making style. Comfortable challenging internal and external partners constructively.
- Track record of building and developing operating teams in fast-moving environments.
- Operator, not strategist. Comfortable owning the execution while others set the direction.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Arabic language is an advantage. English is required.
