JOB OVERVIEW:

This position involves providing first-line IT support to employees, both on-site and remotely, to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all technical systems and devices. The role requires a hands-on, service-oriented individual with a strong foundation in IT systems, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and maintaining workstations, resolving technical incidents, and contributing to the continuous improvement of internal IT processes.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The IT Support Technician will play a key role in supporting staff across the organisation by troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, maintaining technical equipment, and ensuring all systems operate effectively. Responsibilities include configuring new employee workstations, scheduling maintenance when required, and maintaining compliance with internal IT procedures. A solid understanding of standard operating systems, network basics, and telephony is essential, along with the flexibility to work in shifts.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting staff, both in person and remotely, with resolving IT-related issues.
  • Inspecting technical devices and arranging maintenance when required.
  • Setting up work environments for new starters, including hardware and software installation.
  • Performing routine upkeep and repairs on desktop and laptop systems.
  • Familiarity with commonly used workplace software applications.
  • Adhering to and contributing to the improvement of operational procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • National Diploma or Higher Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, ITIL Foundation Certification, Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) or Linux+, would be highly advantageous.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Recognised training as an IT Specialist or equivalent hands-on experience within the IT field.
  • Working knowledge of automated software deployment and operating system installation.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Client systems (Linux experience advantageous).
  • Solid experience with Windows Server environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux, macOS, Android, and iOS platforms preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of networking principles and infrastructure.
  • Proficient in supporting telephony systems and email platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
