JOB OVERVIEW:

The purpose of the Technical Lead (Networks) is to provide structure and control of the technical functions and responsibilities of the networking team. The main goal is coordinating operational activities across the team while maintaining an architectural oversight. This includes, but is not limited to the installation, maintenance, and support of network devices such as routers, switches, appliances, and all related monitoring and management applications.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Operational

  • Plan, deploy, and maintain a hybrid networking infrastructure.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Complete documentation as required (e.g. Incident Reports).
  • Ensure all DR plans are accurate, maintained, and adjusted where necessary.
  • Technical lead for network incidents.

Architectural Design

  • Architectural oversight
  • Set and maintain configuration standards and best practices for the network environment.
  • Ensure cross-skilling of technical expertise

Technical scheduling

  • Plan, schedule, and participate in project and BAU work allocation in association with the Network Manager.
  • Ensure that team members complete all calls and tasks timeously and escalate to the Network Manager at signs of call breaching.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Matric
  • Cisco certification (CCNA / CCNP)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 5 years network support experience
  • Experience in any of the following will be beneficial:
    • Cisco DNA
    • Cisco Meraki
    • Splunk
    • Linux
    • Google Cloud Platform
    • Microsoft Azure
