JOB OVERVIEW: 

As the BI Technical Delivery Lead you will be responsible for the definition and execution of the BI platform-wide portfolio of transformation, enablement and/or foundation initiatives, prioritising the flow of value to various business areas whilst balancing the technical and architectural transformation demands as well as the technical change and maintenance portfolio.  

You will be responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating cross-functional agile project teams, supported by a Scrum Master that will be responsible to manage the initiative-specific delivery, in partnership with the BI Principal Architect who is responsible for the evolving BI architecture. Your objectives are to achieve a high level of performance and quality and to deliver agile projects that provide exceptional business value to users.  

You will also be responsible for the continuous improvement of the team engagement model and delivery method. 

You will be accountable and responsible for identifying, developing and implementing techniques to improve and optimise engagement, productivity, efficiency, risk mitigation, issue resolution, and service delivery. 

You will need to establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of business, technical and governance stakeholders while leading the team to effectively deliver the services you are responsible for. 

 DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

Platform portfolio management 

  • BI wide platform demand management and prioritisation of the BI platform portfolio which will include both the establishment of the medium-term and long-term strategic view, whilst being able to respond effectively to ongoing demands from business on a sprint-by-sprint basis 
  • The definition and delivery execution of the SBI platform and architecture roadmap in consultation with the BI principal architect, actively managing an integrated view of the BI wide transformation and/or enablement portfolio 
  • Managing platform-wide portfolio interdependencies and constraints, tracking benefits realisation, resource management, tracking and facilitating trade-off decisions 
  • Maintaining and improving the cross-portfolio work management and tracking processes, governance and toolsets, leveraging programme wide processes and tooling (E.g. Jira, Confluence, Office suite) 

Agile project management 

  • Preparing integrated flight plans and delivery backlogs, updating as required during the lifetime of the initiative 
  • Support the adoption of agile processes and practices to develop effective data solutions, including transitioning to Cloud-based solutions 
  • Plan, budget, forecast and control the financial aspects of delivering the services you are responsible for  
  • Developing risk management plans per initiative. Actively mitigating risks, resolving issues and managing cross-portfolio interdependencies to keep the initiatives moving 
  • Leading the delivery of the agreed initiative outcomes 
  • Facilitation of agile project management ceremonies 
  • Deliver tracking, reporting and communication 
  • Responsible to facilitate the shaping, scoping, planning and delivery of small, medium and large cross-functional initiatives 

Team leadership, mentoring, and coaching 

  • Servant leader responsible for creating predictability in delivery execution in a complex environment and leading the team to delivery 
  • Motivating the team to remain focused on reaching the goals and addressing any issues that degrade employees’ performance 
  • Modifying work pressure and timelines to keep the pace, balancing the delivery of key milestones with responsiveness to change 
  • Managing issues, escalating to the right authorities and facilitation of the resolution of delivery blockers 
  • Team performance management, delivery leadership and continuous improvement 

 Delivery method and governance model 

  • Mature the team WoW and governance model, integrated into programme operating model, governance structure and processes 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelors or master’s degree, preferably in computer science, data science, information systems, statistics, analytics, business administration, engineering  or another quantitative field  
  • Functional experience in at least two of the following roles: Agile project and portfolio management, data strategy and governance, analytics, management information systems (MIS), data management, business intelligence, information technology (IT) or management consulting 
  • Management development and/or appropriate management qualifications 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

    • 5 to 10 years agile and portfolio management, specifically focussed on complex BI / Data programmes 
    • Practical experience with any of the leading the design and implementation of data management, business intelligence or analytics  toolsets (e.g. Cloudera/Hadoop, Informatica, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc)  
    • Comfort with complex data management processes/practices 
    • Capability to connect business demands and strategic growth using data insights 
    • Negotiation and prioritisation experience  
    • Presentation and facilitation skills 
    • IT systems and solutions experience 
    • Vendor engagement and management experience including contracting and negotiation skills 
    • Financial ability 
    • Policy and procedure crafting  

 ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:

  • 5 years IT management experience beneficial 
  • 2+ years financial services industry experience beneficial 
  • 5 to 10 years management consulting experience beneficial
