JOB OVERVIEW:

The SAP Tester (Junior) for Simple Data Management (SDM) is responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and functionality of the SDM product through comprehensive testing during development and deployment stages. The role involves designing, executing, and maintaining test cases to validate features, usability, and performance. Working closely with development, product management, and deployment teams, this position ensures SDM delivers a seamless experience for clients, while also providing user support, training, and issue resolution across environments.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Product Development Testing:

  • Execute test plans and test cases to ensure all functionalities meet specified requirements.
  • Conduct functional, regression, integration, and performance testing to validate product features.
  • Identify, document, and report defects clearly using issue-tracking software (e.g. JIRA, Zephyr Scale), including relevant test evidence.
  • Update test scripts and maintain alignment with the test strategy.
  • Collaborate with developers to understand new features, provide feedback, validate fixes, and supply test data or configurations.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot issues identified.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance product functionality and user experience.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies and apply Agile testing principles.
  • Manage transports across landscapes (DEV, QA, PRD), ensuring sequencing and dependency coordination.

Test Case Development and Maintenance:

  • Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive test cases and scenarios to reflect product and client requirements.
  • Keep test cases up to date with new features, modifications, and client-specific configurations.
  • Contribute to the development of automated testing frameworks and adopt automation tools to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in test planning sessions to enhance coverage and strengthen the overall QA strategy.

Product Support:

  • Test SDM features and functionality during deployments in client SAP environments to validate configuration and subscribed data objects.
  • Build and maintain business rules in BRF+ and support SDM configuration for client-specific requirements.
  • Execute deployment test cases, including data validation, compatibility checks, and environment configuration tests.
  • Work with deployment and client support teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues during implementation.
  • Provide client training on SDM features and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by assisting clients with test scenarios and queries.
  • Manage the lifecycle of issues reported in client environments, from documentation through to resolution.
  • Elicit customer requirements and validation criteria, ensuring quality resolution without leading workshops.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align testing with business and technical requirements.
  • Provide insights and feedback to improve product quality, performance, and user experience.
  • Actively participate in sprint reviews, team meetings, and retrospectives to refine processes and share best practices.
  • Demonstrate product functionality in reviews and client demonstrations where required.
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving testing methodologies, tools, and trends.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document testing outcomes, including issues, resolutions, and key metrics, for stakeholder review.
  • Maintain traceability by recording test cases, results, and defects systematically.
  • Contribute to user manuals, deployment guides, and troubleshooting documentation to support both product deployment and client training.
    

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of software testing principles, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for defect identification and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with SAP or ERP system architectures.
  • Technical proficiency in SQL and relational database modelling.
  • Experience with test management and issue-tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Zephyr Scale).
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and documentation.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to manage shifting project priorities.
  • Proactive collaboration with the ability to take initiative and follow through to resolution.
    

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar testing role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in manual testing and quality assurance.
  • Exposure to SAP systems or ERP environments.
    

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS:

  • SAP functional consultant experience.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) principles.
  • Experience contributing to test automation frameworks.
