About the job IGCSE and AS Level Biology Teacher (starting from August 2026)
The IGCSE Sciences and AS/A Level Biology Teacher delivers high-quality instruction across the Cambridge Secondary and Advanced pathways. At IGCSE level, the teacher provides broad science teaching through Coordinated Sciences. At AS and A Level, the teacher specialises in Biology, developing students deep subject knowledge, practical skills, and exam readiness to support strong performance in Cambridge external assessments and progression to science-based university pathways.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver well-structured IGCSE Coordinated Sciences lessons covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics content as required by the syllabus
- Deliver specialist Biology teaching for AS and A Level, including genetics, biochemistry, physiology, ecology, and practical laboratory skills
- Prepare students for Cambridge examinations, including theory papers, structured questions, and practical or alternative-to-practical components
- Develop students ability to analyse data, evaluate evidence, and apply scientific reasoning
- Differentiate instruction to support students with varying academic and English proficiency levels
- Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress
- Provide clear, targeted feedback to improve understanding and examination performance
- Ensure safe and effective laboratory practice at all times
Curriculum Collaboration
- Follow Cambridge syllabus objectives for IGCSE Coordinated Sciences and AS/A Level Biology
- Design and mark internal assessments aligned to Cambridge standards
- Prepare mock exams, revision schedules, and exam support materials
- Maintain accurate records of academic attainment and progress
- Support moderation, exam entry, and Cambridge submission processes
