ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

GEMS Education is seeking qualified, enthusiastic, and reliable Foreign ESL Teachers to support our partner public primary and secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City during the Christmas and New Year period.

This seasonal opportunity is ideal for experienced teachers looking for flexible teaching assignments, additional teaching hours, or short-term opportunities between December 2026 and January 2027.

We welcome applications from teachers who are currently based in Ho Chi Minh City and available for short-notice teaching assignments.

POSITION DETAILS

Position: Seasonal / Cover Foreign ESL Teacher

Location: Public Primary & Secondary Schools across Ho Chi Minh City

Employment Type: Seasonal / Part-time / Cover Teaching

Teaching Period: December 2026 – January 2027

Teaching Schedule: Weekdays, morning and/or afternoon sessions

Teaching Hours: Flexible, depending on school requirements and teacher availability

Student Levels: Primary and Secondary School Students

Teaching assignments will be arranged based on school locations, scheduling needs, and teacher availability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver engaging and interactive English lessons to primary and/or secondary school students.
• Follow the assigned curriculum, lesson plans, and teaching guidelines.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Encourage student participation, communication, and confidence in using English.
• Maintain effective classroom management and professional teaching standards.
• Collaborate with Vietnamese teaching assistants, school staff, and GEMS Education coordinators.
• Arrive punctually and complete assigned teaching responsibilities.
• Provide necessary teaching updates and documentation when required.
• Remain responsive to scheduling confirmations and communicate any changes in availability promptly.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree or higher.

• A recognized English teaching qualification, such as TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent.
• Excellent English communication skills with clear, natural pronunciation.
• Previous experience teaching ESL/EFL to primary and/or secondary school students is preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills and an engaging, student-centered teaching approach.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms, student levels, and teaching environments.
• Personal laptop for lesson preparation and classroom teaching.
• Professional, punctual, reliable, and responsive to scheduling arrangements.
• Currently residing in Ho Chi Minh City and available for teaching assignments during December 2026 and/or January 2027.
• Must meet applicable legal requirements for teaching in Vietnam.

Priority will be given to candidates who:

• Have previous experience teaching in Vietnamese public schools.
• Can accept short-notice cover assignments.
• Have flexible weekday availability.
• Can teach at multiple school locations within Ho Chi Minh City.
• Have valid documentation permitting them to undertake the proposed teaching assignments.
