Summary
The RN provides direct patient care, coordinates multidisciplinary care plans, and ensures safe, evidence-based practice in accordance with state Nurse Practice Acts and facility policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform head-to-toe assessments, develop and update care plans, and document in the EMR
- Administer medications and IV therapies, manage central lines and drains per competency
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and allied teams to optimize outcomes
- Monitor labs, diagnostics, and patient response; escalate changes promptly
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, and discharge plans
- Maintain accurate documentation, handoffs, and participation in huddles
- Support infection prevention, falls reduction, and other quality initiatives
- Precept and mentor as assigned
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice
- BLS required
- ACLS for most acute units, PALS or NRP for pediatrics or L&D as applicable
- 1 to 2 years recent experience in the target specialty preferred
- Proficiency with EMRs such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech
