About the Company

We are delighted to be partnering with an established technology and workplace solutions business providing print, managed IT services and technology finance to organisations across New Zealand.

With a broad service offering, the business helps customers meet their workplace and technology needs. We are recruiting Sales Development Representatives to strengthen its outbound sales function, connecting prospective customers with relevant solutions and creating qualified opportunities for Business Development Managers nationwide.

About the Role

The Sales Development Representative will own the early stages of the sales process, researching businesses, reaching decision-makers and turning initial conversations into meaningful appointments. By building a consistent flow of qualified opportunities, the role allows Business Development Managers to focus on customer meetings and progressing sales.

This is a hands-on, phone-based prospecting role where sustained outbound activity is central to your day. Success means securing meetings with a clear business purpose, where the prospect understands the conversation and has a credible interest in exploring the service.

You'll learn alongside a manager who actively prospects with the team and provides practical coaching. As your capability develops, there may be opportunities to attend customer meetings and contribute to more of the sales process.

What You'll Do

  • Research prospective customers, review account history and identify relevant decision-makers.
  • Build targeted prospect lists using CRM information, LinkedIn and prospecting tools.
  • Initiate outbound calls, explain relevant services and create interest through purposeful conversations.
  • Qualify customer needs, interest and timing to secure meaningful business appointments.
  • Coordinate clear handovers to Business Development Managers, capturing context for productive meetings.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, manage follow-up and refine your approach through feedback.

About You

  • Outbound Sales Experience: Previous prospecting experience is preferred, whether in phone-based sales, door-to-door sales or fundraising. Career changers will also be considered where you can demonstrate a deliberate, well-informed commitment to sales.
  • Credible Communication: You communicate naturally, ask useful questions and adapt your approach to different decision-makers. You can explain value clearly and handle objections without overstating what you can offer.
  • Discipline & Ownership: You organise your research, calling and follow-up into a consistent routine. You understand that results depend on sustained activity and preparation, including when conversations are challenging.
  • Resilience & Judgement: You can move forward after rejection while learning from the interaction. You use account information and customer responses to judge relevance and recognise a worthwhile opportunity.
  • Coachability & Ambition: You welcome direct, practical feedback and put it into action. You're motivated to build strong sales foundations and develop greater independence as your knowledge grows.

What's in it for you?

For someone looking to develop a longer-term sales career, this role offers exposure to a wide network of business customers and a broad technology offering. Strong performance could support progression towards account management or business development. You'll build practical B2B sales skills through regular prospecting, coaching and shared learning with a manager who understands the day-to-day work.
